Not much is known about Locke Portlandia's past. All that is known is that he was an outcast, or a loaner before he met his new trusted companions Ulfgar, Torrin, and Ingrid. As self claimed "treasure hunter", Locke has a weak spot for any rare or valuable items which tend to get him and those around him into trouble. He often was a scout or bodyguard for traders, for that's when he was able to "find" the best kind of items. Spending most of his life on the road alone, he had a deep love for the woods, it provided everything he could ever need to survive (also made hiding a bit easier) Locke thinks that there's a lesson for every situation drawn from observing nature itself, that in turn that the natural world is far more important than all of the constructs of civilization. But sadly in time you you may find yourself having to fight fire with fire. Locke is always looking for something to give him that "extra edge" in any situation. Many years of being alone has made him a bit hardened and selfish, but he respects the law of nature "only the strong survive". Shortly after meeting with the group Locke unknowingly found a sphere that was later to be known contained the soul of a powerful lich known as "The teacher". Not long after it was taken from him to be reunited with the lich. On the adventures of the group, they acquired an old run down manor that they spent months and 1000s of gold rebuilding it, and giving them all a place to finally call home. Secretly Locke and Ingrid have been running an underground drug ring or mostly elfweed and different mushrooms, they also started brewing their own brand of ale and spirits to hopefully bring in mass amounts of gold. They also secretly were building a werewolf army to help fight in the upcoming war. The idea came to him after his beloved owlbear cub named "Bubo" had eaten part of a werewolf, and became infected becoming a white alpha werewolf. Countless research has been done to try to control the transformation, with the only luck being that he has learned to be able to control Bubo during his transformations. Locke has grown very fond of gunpowder and other types of explosives, tinkering and always trying to make some new "toys" as he calls them. He recently saved an airship pilot named "Cid" who fell in love with him very quickly. Shortly after was the beginning of the battle of the echo planes where Locke commandeered a Drow airship to fly back to the manor and gather his werewolf army and their drug empire they left behind.
